Rotary 101:

Turning Rotary Members into Super Rotarians

The Rotary Club of Long Beach will be unveiling its successful Rotary 101 Program at this February’s District Conference. An overview of this educational program will be presented at the Conference lunch on Friday, February 22. The training material and supportive resources will also be showcased at the Rotary 101 booth in the House of Friendship during the conference.

Rotary 101 was developed as an easy and engaging way for clubs to help their members get the “Big Picture” on Rotary International. Students learn about Rotary’s history and growth over its first century. Individual clubs using this training program are provide an easy way to customize the classes by supplementing the curriculum with local club information. This allows the club to tailor the presentations and make the make the material more meaningful for its members.

Curriculum is based on David Forwards book, “A Century of Service: The Story of Rotary International” is supplemented with course curriculum, class facilitator notes, student materials, and questions designed to encourage class discussion. Rotary 101 even provides your club with Tips & Tricks on launching a successful program.

Past RI President Frank Devlyn and current RI President Wilf Wilkinson have attended Rotary 101 sessions during their visits to Long Beach. They agreed that the class enhances membership growth and retention, while providing members a greater sense of what it means to be a Rotarian.

While the current version of the program is in electronic and print format, plans are in place to make the classes available online, multilingual, and customizable for clubs around the world.

Clubs can register at the Conference and begin participating in this exciting new program. Those registered for the program will receive current training materials and access to updates and future enhancements.
